Welcome to the SmashGarden

Listening Page

We had a distraction in the house: we needed to rearrange in order to get a repair done. Of course, I enlarged the project to include spring cleaning 🙂

So I put my SmashBooking on the back burner for a short while, rationalising that I was still “listening” for what wanted to emerge. This is part of how I work … but in this case, I noticed that while I had ‘invited’ emergence, I wasn’t actually listening. And it had nothing to do with housework.

Was I hesitant to see what would emerge? Hmm. But I did believe something interesting was hatching … so I set about to create a ‘grounding page’ and instead realised that I wanted to flip my hands palms-up … a gesture I use during prayer!

And so I invented my Listening Page.

When I visit it, and place my hands on the page, palms up, I can make a choice to courageously, actively wait, to collaborate with the emergence of unexpected good stuff. This is quite different from staying busy to avoid the unknown, though it may look similar to an observer 🙂
